I know it's a bit soon to veer away from straight forward horror, but eff it! It's my blog! Just kidding with the pompous attitude guys. In reality I believe good horror can also be heard as well as seen, so without further adieu we come to a band and sound that I truly think most horror fans can appreciate, PLUS they tie into the YouTube nation project I have going on.
Meet the Kansas based Psychobilly performer Psycho Sally Switchblade with their YouTube Channel here. Now, I personally had not heard of these guys until I stumbled upon the singer Chrystal Johnson's cover of The Matador's song "That's How She Died."
From that first note Johnson sang, I was hooked and needed to hear the other 22 songs she had on the channel. I was completely tickled black and blue to discover that not only did Johnson and I share a common love for bands like The Matadors, The Creepshow, but horror in general.
Her smooth blend of rockabilly, country, punk goes together like a zombie Elvis' love for Peanut Butter and Banana Brains Sandwich!
Now keep in mind that I am not a huge fan of country music, but I am always down for a little bit of rockabilly thanks to the greats like Mr. Cash and others from the era. This just previews the type of music Johnson plays and why it's so damn catchy!

So I wrote a song about a man who's demise came about through a broken heart, and when he hears his loved one's cries, he rises up from the grave only to find that her broken heart caused her to commit suicide. So he drags her back to the grave that she dug for him, and they live unhappily ever after for all eternity!

And enjoy it I did! It is a refreshing mix of excellent musicianship coupled with genuine horror storytelling. My only request is that she provides us listeners with some listed lyrics so we can all sing along once she makes it big time! But until she's selling out tickets at your local venue, catch a live video recording of Johnson at her Channel which I have linked earlier in the post. Currently Johnson has 64 or so subscribers to her channel.
She NEEDS more, so please, do yourself the favor and check out her channel, only then can you experience the psychobilly epicness that is Psycho Sally Switchblade! Also, don't forget to leave her some love!
